Djurgården are focusing on fine-tuning their squad rather than major overhauls during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to head coach Jani Honkavaara. The Stockholm club have identified the wide positions as their primary area for reinforcement.
"There maybe we need a bit more power," Honkavaara said, speaking to Expressen. Despite having the second-most touches in opposition penalty areas in Allsvenskan, the coach is seeking greater efficiency in the final third.
Djurgården are bracing for potential departures of key players, with midfielder Matias Siltanen and defender Bo Hegland both attracting external interest following strong performances this season. Captain Adam Ståhl has expressed hope that both players will remain at the club beyond the summer window.
Mikael Anderson is reportedly in discussions about a potential departure, while Santeri Haarala may also leave as the club continues managing their quota of foreign players. The futures of Viktor Bergh, currently on loan at Hansa Rostock, and Joel Asoro, whose loan deal expires this summer, remain uncertain.
Honkavaara is "eagerly" awaiting the appointment of a new sporting director to help navigate the transfer period. The club will also benefit from the return of Nino Zugelj, who is expected to be an important "internal signing" after his injury absence, while Oskar Fallenius could play a larger role in the autumn.
