IFK Göteborg have all but confirmed that teenage sensation Benjamin Brantlind will be sold this summer, with the club's football director admitting they are not in the best negotiating position.

The 17-year-old midfielder was visibly emotional and in tears after what could have been his final match in the famous blue and white shirt against Västerås. With his contract expiring at the end of the season and no progress on extension talks, a summer departure appears inevitable.

"I think that's probably best for everyone, that we find a solution as quickly as possible," football director Jesper Jansson told Expressen.

Brantlind himself acknowledged the emotional weight of the situation. "It became a bit much. We won too. Many, many emotions," he said after the Västerås match.

Despite increased playing time and a regular starting position this spring, negotiations between the player's representatives and the club have ground to a halt. From this summer, Brantlind will be free to negotiate with other clubs, significantly weakening Göteborg's hand.

Jansson admitted the club's approach could have been better managed. "We maybe should have taken the discussion earlier," he reflected, while confirming they have received no concrete offers for the talented youngster.

The situation highlights the challenges facing Swedish clubs in retaining their brightest prospects, with Brantlind set to become another academy graduate departing Ullevi.
