Malmö FF considers season ticket ban to combat empty seats at Eleda Stadion
Swedish champions may deny renewals to fans who repeatedly skip matches as no-show rates reach concerning levels

Malmö FF is considering blocking certain supporters from purchasing season tickets next season in response to a growing problem of empty seats at Eleda Stadion despite sold-out matches.
The Allsvenskan champions have set a target of keeping unused tickets to a maximum of 10 percent. While their home opener against GAIS saw a no-show rate of 7.4 percent, this figure had risen dramatically to 18.6 percent by their match against Halmstads BK.
"We are discussing implementing this," supporter liaison officer Pierre Nordberg told Expressen. "You get a bit provoked when you know that certain sections are very attractive and then people don't show up."
The club views the trend as an escalating issue that negatively impacts stadium atmosphere, team support, and arena revenue. Empty seats are particularly frustrating given the high demand for tickets at Sweden's most successful club.
Malmö FF emphasized that their concerns do not target supporters who lend out their seats or sell them back to the club. Instead, the focus is on season ticket holders who neither use their tickets nor make them available to other fans.
The potential measure would specifically target repeat offenders who consistently fail to attend matches, helping ensure that committed supporters have access to coveted seats at one of Swedish football's most popular venues.
