Djurgården midfielder Daniel Stensson has admitted the Stockholm club will enter their summer break in poor spirits following a disappointing end to the spring portion of the Allsvenskan season.
"Now we go into the holidays with terrible mood," Stensson said following Djurgården's spring finale against Brommapojkarna, according to Expressen.
The midfielder expressed frustration that the team would not have an opportunity to immediately bounce back from their recent poor form, with no matches scheduled for the coming weekend.
"I would have liked to show that we are not as bad as it looked," Stensson told Expressen.
Djurgården, one of Sweden's most successful clubs with multiple Allsvenskan titles, had hoped for a stronger conclusion to the first half of the season. The Stockholm-based team will now use the summer break to regroup and prepare for the autumn portion of the campaign.
The club's supporters will be hoping that the extended break allows the squad to reset mentally and tactically ahead of their return to action. Stensson's honest assessment reflects the high standards expected at Djurgården, where anything less than competing for European qualification is considered disappointing.
