Club history
GAIS (Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap) were founded in 1894 and are Gothenburg's oldest football club. The green-and-black stripes are iconic in Swedish football. GAIS won six Allsvenskan titles in the early decades of Swedish football history, though they spent much of the late 20th and early 21st century in the lower divisions. Their return to the top flight marks a new chapter for this storied institution.
